Water Source Expansion Project

Test Drilling 

The City of Arlington has been preparing to expand its water supplies due to the continued and projected growth of the Arlington area. The City will be drilling five test wells in the Stillaguamish River area to locate new potential production wells.  The project will include the drilling, monitoring, and water testing at five drilling sites: two at Haller Park by the existing wells, two in the Stormwater Wetland Park area, and one on the north side of the river.

Project Cost and Funding

  • Engineer’s estimate: $552,300
  • Funding by City of Arlington Water 

Program Schedule

  • Test well drilling: Summer 2020
  • Production well drilling: 2021-2022

Project Updates

  • July 29, 2022 -  Contract awarded to Holt Services
  • August 17, 2020 – Drilling to start in the Wetlands Park area
  • The first test well has been drilled and tested. They started drilling the second well in the Stormwater Wetlands Park area on Thursday.
  • September 10, 2022 - Drilling to start in the Haller Park area
  • September 24, 2020 - Drilling to start on the north side of the Stillaguamish River
  • September 30 2020 - All drilling completed.
