Traffic Patterns
Disclaimer: Reference all flight operations to the current FAR/AIM.
- Avoid overflight of noise sensitive areas.
- Practice IFR approaches during visual meteorological conditions.
- Follow published missed approach procedures.
- Fly airport traffic pattern rectangle as outlined in the AIM and Arlington air traffic pattern maps.
Gliders
- Traffic pattern east of airport.
- Glider and tow plane designated turf runways are located parallel and adjacent to eastern taxiway for Runway 16-34 (taxiway Alpha).
- Tow planes and gliders allowed midfield takeoffs on turf glider runway.
- After glider release, tow planes should use standard traffic pattern entry.
- Tow planes land on designated asphalt or turf runways.
Ultralights
- Enter and exit traffic pattern as shown on map at or below 400 feet AGL (542 feet MSL).
- Turf Runway is located parallel to and just North of closed runway.
- Traffic Pattern is typical rectangular configuration as described in AIM and is located over the closed runway and Ultralight Park.
- Ultralights departing to the northwest maintain 400 feet AGL until West of I-5.
Rotary Wing Aircraft
Civilian Helicopters
- Approach and depart the Airport at 642 feet MSL
- Avoid flying over residential areas at low altitude
- Announce position and intention on radio
- Avoid all aircraft
Large Propeller, Turboprop & Jet Aircraft
Use runway 16-34.
Approaches
- Standard National Business Aircraft Association (NBAA) noise abatement procedures should be used
- Practice IFR approaches during visual meteorological conditions
- Follow Published missed approach procedures
VFR Approaches
- Fly final at or above Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI)
- Follow published approach procedures
Departures (IFR & VFR)
- No intersection takeoffs
- Standard NBAA noise abatement procedures
- Runway 34 - Maintain runway heading until past residential development
Small Propeller Aircraft
These are single and twin engine under 12,500 pounds.
Departures, Go-Arounds & Touch & Goes
- Use Runway 34 when winds are less than 5 knots
- No intersection takeoffs
- Caution ultralight operations below 542 feet MSL west-northwest of Runway 16-34
- Fly airport traffic pattern rectangle as outlined in the AIM and Arlington air traffic pattern maps
Runway 34
Maintain runway heading until north of ridge line.
Runway 16
Maintain 1,200 feet MSL altitude during departure from airport traffic pattern.
Approaches (All Runways)
- Maintain the highest elevation practical while on final approach
- Intercept and fly at or above the PAPI
- Practice IFR approaches during visual meteorological conditions
- Follow published missed approach procedures
- Fly airport traffic pattern rectangle as outlined in the AIM and Arlington air traffic pattern maps
