Mayor's Volunteer Recognition Program

Mayor Tolbert’s Volunteer Recognition Program celebrates citizens’ volunteer work and commitment to community service. To be eligible for this award, volunteer work must be uncompensated and not a part of any employment. Nominees must perform volunteer service within the 98223 zip code. Recipients are recognized at City Council meetings, receive a certificate, have their picture and nomination form posted to the City’s website, and have their picture and nomination form published in the City’s weekly e-news bulletin.

Nominations

Nominations can come from anyone. To nominate a volunteer, please complete our online form. Volunteers will be considered based on initiative and work contributed through volunteering. There is no minimum hours requirement. Volunteers may be nominated by an individual or a group, but they may not nominate themselves.

Nominations are reviewed by the Volunteer Committee of City employees. The nominator and the volunteer will be notified by email of receiving the award. Friends and family are welcome at the City Council meeting when the volunteer award is presented.
